For print-friendly format in Word, click here As kids across the nation go back to school, Stephanie Kennedy Sailor, candidate for US Congress, 2nd District, IL, opened doors for victims of failed government-run schools, announcing today she will redirect her campaign contributions to The Jessica Fund, a scholarship program for underprivileged children. ”Thanks to The Jessica Fund, underprivileged kids stuck in government-run schools will have a chance, says Kennedy Sailor, the 31-year-old Gen X candidate. “The poor can now practice school choice, just like the wealthy.” The Jessica Fund, named after the daughter of her opponent, Jesse Jackson, Jr. was created by Kennedy Sailor to help underprivileged children have the same privilege as Jessica Jackson: The ability to bypass failing public schools for a competitive, private education. “Children get left behind in government schools whereas private schooling propels them forward,” says Kennedy Sailor. “Jesse Jackson, Jr. knows that one-size-fits-all government-run schooling has failed.” From John Kerry to Jesse Jackson, Jr. & Sr., wealthy politicians are known for exercising school choice, sometimes spending up to $20,000/year on private high school training. (More) According to the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, minorities, poor families, and inner-city parents are the biggest supporters of school choice, for they are the groups most likely to be stuck in failing government-run schools. Stephanie Kennedy Sailor supports ending government’s monopoly on education so parents can practice the power of school choice and open the doors of competitive, market-based schooling for their children. Stephanie Kennedy Sailor is an independent “cyber” candidate, running an internet-based campaign at: www.KennedySailor.com. Donors can contribute to The Jessica Fund from now through Election Day.
