She's an everyday citizen -- just like you -- and doesn't have the money or time to launch a campaign filled with fluff and fanfare. Stephanie's cyber campaign is economical, affordable, and fast. Thanks to the internet, common citizens like Stephanie can stand up to elite politicians like Jesse Jackson, Jr. Facts -- Stephanie is: - running a campaign on $0 but actually opposed to campaign finance reform, AKA incumbent protection laws - not a lawyer or career politician - young (Gen X, age 31) and female (obviously) - a recovering Democrat who even subscribed to The Nation magazine -ha! when she was in high school, thinking problems could be solved through government (good thing she evolved beyond that high school phase) - is running for Congress for the third time (her first run was in '00 at the age of 27; followed by running in '02 at age 29 -- to view her previous campaign site, click here) - is pro-Second Amendment, but not a member of the NRA - an artist, but not a supporter of the NEA - a former teacher, but was never a member of that NEA - just an average citizen, challenging failed politicians like Jesse Jackson, Jr. --back to top-- Professional history Currently, Stephanie works a tech job in the private sector, merging customer service, communications, and technology into one big ball of electronic efficiency. She pursues her creative endeavors (experiments?) as a hobby on the side, including tinkering with web projects such as this very Congressional site. Stephanie is also a certified firearms instructor. On an occasional weekend, she teaches private handgun safety/instruction courses for beginners, most recently hosting classes in Colorado and Florida. Stephanie also a range safety officer at Boomershoot in Idaho. Prior to this, Stephanie worked as a computer instructor at an alternative school where she helped students become more marketable for job placement by teaching them tech skills. She has also dabbled in public relations and communications. Dipping even further back into the Wonderful World of Stephanie, her diverse background includes anything and everything from art instructor, exhibiting artist, gallery director, executive assistant, sauté chef, maid, and a myriad of other miscellaneous endeavors. When she was but a child herself (read: age 9), Stephanie worked in child care (babysitting). Her first official job was at age 12 (no kidding), when she was employed as a line cook. --back to top-- Education Beginning in 1995, Stephanie starting working as an apprentice to award-winning creative director Jim Courtright. In 1999, she also began attending part-time Northwestern University courses in advertising, held at Leo Burnett Worldwide -- a company known as an "icon agency that builds icon brands," creating "ideas that inspire enduring belief." At Burnett, she received intensive hands-on training from high-level creative directors. The ad classes weren't for the weak. If a student presented particularly paltry work at a class critique, sometimes a creative director would toss the "F" work onto the floor, urging the individual to go back to the drawing board. "The best education I ever received was apprenticing to Jim Courtright, combined with being taught by creative directors at Leo Burnett," says Stephanie Kennedy Sailor. Prior to her apprenticeship to Courtright and training at Burnett, Stephanie acquired a Bachelor's degree by attending a few other colleges which shall remain unmentioned as the experience was hardly an "education." --back to top-- Hobbies Swimming, reading, writing, design, nature, yoga, fleeing the city, Boomershooting, doll collecting.
